How does a water to air inter-cooler work?|||An automobile radiator is a good example of a water to air inter-cooler. In a normal radiator, hot water flows through the sealed portion of the radiator and cool outside air flows around the fins and water passages to remove heat from the water.
An intercooler for a turbocharger system would work in the opposite direction. Heat would transfer from the compressed air from the turbocharger to the water in the radiator.
