IM building a computer and i want to know do i need an inter harddrive or can i have an externam on instead?

Because i heard that external ones can hold up to a terrobyte of memory and i want to know if i need an inter drive?|||An internal on is Generally needed for the os, you say you want an external one because you can get a terabyte on but you can get these as internal drives too
